Grab your goggles & budgie smugglers because St Kilda is going swimming. This December, St Kilda Beach will be home to Melbourne’s newest aquatic challenge: the St Kilda Mile.

Hosted by Event ambassador Michael Klim, the St Kilda Mile will be an exciting day to test your swimming merit alongside Olympians, celebrities and athletes from around Australia.

“The St Kilda Mile comes off the back of a really successful Queensland Series produced by Icon Events” said Klim.

“I’m really excited to play a part in building a new event here in Port Phillip where my career all began”.

Klim is one of Australia’s most successful swimmers of all time. He is a world champion, a world record holder and a three-time Olympian with medals from all three Olympic Games, including two gold medals.

Catering to elite athletes and amateur competitors alike the St Kilda Mile will be offering competitors a variety of ocean challenges.

The St Kilda Mile: Features the popular open water distance of 1.6km and provides competitors with a point to point swim alongside the St Kilda pier, perfect for beginner to novice ocean swimmers.

St Kilda 3.8: Is the ultimate open water challenge offering a hefty 3.8km Ironman distance swim. Not for the faint hearted this course will be the perfect hit out for aspiring Ironman competitors or anyone looking to step up their open water game.

Half Mile: This 800m short course is the perfect distance for less experienced swimmers and provides a great introduction to the world of open water swimming.

300m kid’s Dash: This fun and free event for children 8+ years old will introduce your child to the thrill of open water swimming. Finishing with an exciting beach sprint you’ll be able to capture the moment without getting wet. Alternatively the 300m event also offers Family and friends the opportunity to share the experience by swimming alongside.

Charity Relay: With all proceeds going to the winning teams charity of choice the relay is a great opportunity to grab a team of three and go head to head with celebrities and multisport athletes from around Australia. Featuring a sprint distance this fast paced event will definitely not want to be missed.

Trophies and product prizes will be awarded in each category and a cash prize of $500 is up for grabs in the St Kilda Mile Championship.

The official charity partner for the St Kilda Mile is John Maclean Foundation which supports and changes the lives of young Australians who use wheelchairs. There will be multiple fundraising opportunities leading up to the event and on the day to support this inspiring foundation.
