Superhero Training Academy

By  |  0 Comments

Developed by award-winning theatre-makers and educators, Superhero Training Academy is DIY workshop meets theatre meets magic, told in rap and rhyming slang.

In this unique narrative driven workshop, mini-sized heroes 5+ will be taught the basics – how to move, act and rap like a superhero – and make their own DIY costume piece to complete the picture.

Recruits will be led through the experience by a rotating team of trainers – failed superheroes who have been left in charge of the Academy while the Big Boss is away.

These heroes – including Catman Diamond Gem, Collateral Glamage, Miss Menagerie and Obsoleto aka Obsolete Technology Guy – preach the tenants of the STA: Bravery, Individuality and Tolerance, in the fight for good. But when things go awry and the bad guys are revealed to be hiding within their own ranks, recruits will have the chance to put their newly learnt skills into action in an interactive action-packed finale.

Featuring a rotating cast of superhero facilitators including Julia Billington (Cut Snake, The Myth Project: Twin, My Name is Rachel Corrie), Catherine Davies (Dangerous Liaisons, Lord of the Flies, Cut Snake, The Myth Project: Twin), Kevin Kiernan-Molloy (Cut Snake, The Myth Project: Twin, Psycho Beach Party), and Marcus McKenzie (Dirtyland, Cut Snake, The Myth Project: Twin) and developed by award-winning playwright and educator Dan Giovannoni (Cut Snake, Two by Two) and producer Belinda Kelly (Arthur, Griffin Theatre Company).
