Do you need to recover from a year of hard work? Or are you just looking for some fun in the sun? If you answered yes to either then St Kilda’s the perfect place for you!

We’re here to help you find and enjoy all the fun available in and around St Kilda this summer – You can burn off your excess energy with the sporty stuff or chill out and make new friends at the street parties and festivals. So let’s see what’s happening in our town this summer:

From November 30th to December 21st you can sit back, relax, have an ice cream, and enjoy the music and movies of Ben and Jerry’s Openair Cinema St Kilda, situated beside the St Kilda Sea Baths on the South Beach Reserve.

On the 6th of December feel free to join in the fun at the Splash Dash Bash and frolic in the waters around the Interfere road pier.

On December 7th many women will take part in the Sussan Women’s Fun Run held in the Catani Gardens. The Fun Run is held to support the Breast Cancer Network of Australia so you can enjoy yourself, get a workout and help a support a great cause doing so.

The following Saturday, December 13th, St Kilda Beach will host the St Kilda Mile Ocean Swim. It will involve kids, athletes, celebrities (including Michael Klim) and everyday people of all shapes, sizes and states of fitness. You can choose your own event to suit yourself in either a 1 mile or a 3.8km event.

You can stay ashore on December 20th and take part in the Summer Kick Beach Festival. This is a social beach soccer competition alongside music acts held on the foreshore, so it’s perfect for those that love the game and enjoy live music.

After all your Christmas and New Year festivities, come back on the 11th of January and join in on the Gatorade Triathlon Series Race 2. Kids, adults, professionals and amateurs will all be catered for. As well as the usual sponsors, 2XU and Chobani yoghurt have now joined in to add to the fun.

The Slam Beach Volleyball Festival will run all day from 9am to 9pm on the 17th of January on the St Kilda Foreshore – a perfect opportunity to enjoy the beach, the beautiful weather and play some volleyball in a social setting.

The Port Royal Street Party will be hosted by the tenants of Fennell Street in Port Melbourne on the 18th of January. Food, drinks, and entertainment delivered by talented locals will keep everyone happy.

Also on the 18th will see the start of the Tri Series 2014-2015. This will take place on the Elwood foreshore and on the Carnival site at Elwood Park. It will also follow Beaconsfield Pde, Jacka Blvd, Marine Pde, and Ormond Esplanade (found between Kerferd and St Kilda Streets).

The best way to finish this run of St Kilda fun is with the St Kilda Festival, which will begin on January 31st and run for 9 days. The St Kilda Festival is a St Kilda wide celebration of the joys of music and arts, and will end with a massive free music festival on Festival Sunday. Over the course of the festival the festivities will range from classes in comedy and dance, to extreme sports, music, and community workshops.

The St Kilda festival will honour the Indigenous locals and will begin with Yalukit Willum Ngargee: People, Place, Gathering, in the O’Donnell Gardens.

The Live N’ Local program leading up to Festival Sunday will have local traders opening their doors to local entertainers, comedians, poets and musical artists.

The St Kilda Festival always goes out with a bang, and on Festival Sunday the streets will be closed and the best Australian musicians will play on massive stages for your pleasure.

These are just a few of the fantastic events held in and around St Kilda, so get on out there and hunt down the rest; you never know what you’ll find. St Kilda summer is truly the greatest summer!
