The St Kilda Hub work space turns one having opened its doors on March 16th 2014.

It celebrates helping dozens of start-ups, micro businesses and not-for-profit groups.

It’s an affordable space for entrepreneurs, community leaders, innovators and small business owners to work from, in the heart of Acland St in St Kilda, opposite O’Donnell Gardens.

They offer a creative space with a range of facilities that include high speed internet, meeting rooms, kitchenette, tables, couches and chairs to work from and not to mention a great view. Some members like to visit the gardens to get a break from the office and soak up the sun while still working through the high speed wifi.

“In our first year the members have established proof of concept and a great working environment. I am excited to see the hub has become sustainable and will continue to grow and develop,” says St Kilda Hub founder Joel Cohen.

“In our first year the hub has received awards and sponsorship but the best result has been the satisfaction of being part of creating something worthwhile to the community and small business”

Co-working spaces are a worldwide hit as increased collaboration and networking has been shown to directly lead to increased innovation and economic output. Unlike a traditional office the St Kilda Hub work space is affordable and flexible offering micro-businesses access to other people who will be able to help them with their business or creative ventures.

Creativity, motivation and inspiration can be contagious and having a space to feed off that energy from other likeminded people is great for those times of procrastination and not feeling inspired.

The St Kilda Hub’s focus is not to make profits, although it needs to have sufficient member ship to grow and improve.

There are many benefits to being involved in a collaborative work space for individuals, the community and sponsors above and beyond the satisfaction of being part of something worthwhile and exciting.
