St Kilda Hub Workspace – Free to a Good Owner

Wait a second.  Co-working hubs and business incubators are hot right now so why is this one in the heart of St Kilda being given away?  There is a credible and understandable reason.  It’s because the founder and current owner has a young family, spends much of his time now outside of Melbourne, has new projects to focus on and is changing his priorities accordingly.

“St Kilda Hub is a passionate community project and has always been about providing an affordable co-working space for the St Kilda community.  I would love to keep running it myself but family priorities need to take precedence.  Since it was founded on the goodwill of crowdfunding and supported by local people I want to give it away to a new owner or collective of people in the same spirit” – says St Kilda Hub founder Joel Cohen

St Kilda Hub Workspace turned two years old in March this year and is an established business with long term members and significant growth potential.  Applicants will need to demonstrate an enthusiasm and commitment to the co-working space for the St Kilda and Bayside Melbourne start up community.  The new owners would be expected to run their own business in the space also.

Any new owner would receive all membership income but would also need to take over rent payments and utility bills of $3,000 per month.  Records of income demonstrating a break even position will be shown to those who submit a great proposal and are serious about the opportunity.

“This is a chance for an enthusiastic person to get a head start by taking over an established and operating innovative business.  At the same time they can also grow their own business from the premises.  I hope that giving it away will open up the possibility of interest from a wide range of dynamic people and ensure that it will continue to provide a service to the community.”  – Mr Cohen said

If you believe that startups and small business need an affordable place to connect, work and grow and have the enthusiasm and energy to take over the ownership of St Kilda Hub, please email the founder directly with your proposal.

“This is not the first time I have given a business away and I will spend time with the new owner to help them transition.  I’m hoping they may continue to let me use the space when I’m in St Kilda too.”  – Joel Cohen
