St Kilda Festival calling all talent

The St Kilda Festival kicks off again in early 2016. Applications are now open for the festival across a number of categories, including musicians, child entertainers, community groups, charities, stall holders, traders, festival events and activities.

Over 400,000 festival goers will enjoy a wide variety of Australian music and entertainment across the entire St Kilda precinct. This year with an extra burst of romance and love with festival Sunday falling on Valentine’s Day, Sunday the 14th of February.

“The St Kilda Festival is a great opportunity for everyone to get involved in this fantastic, historic, community event.” City of Port Phillip Mayor Cr Amanda Stevens said. The Opportunity to participate in Australia’s largest free music festival incorporates a diverse range. “The wide variety of talent on offer is what makes the festival so unique and successful every year“said the festival producer, Adele Denison.

The search for Australia’s best up and coming artists is back again this year as part of the St Kilda Festival. Hailed as one of the festivals highlights, the New Music Stage will showcase the nation’s best emerging talent.

Ten bands will be chosen to play at Australia’s biggest free music festival, with the crowd favourite winning $5,000 and a spot on the main stage in 2017. Denison says, “The new music stage has hosted some of Australia’s hottest talent in the early stages of their careers… We encourage you to apply!”

This year along with the New Music Stage, Live N Local will host a stage on Festival Sunday that will showcase local talent from the City of Port Phillip. Live N Local celebrates live music and offers local musicians from all genres a chance to join into the festivities celebrating live music.

“The City of Port Phillip is passionate about supporting local music and artists… We are proud to be able to provide an opportunity for upcoming artists to be part of an iconic Australian music festival.” Mayor, Cr Amanda Stevens of The City of Port Phillip said.
