Shades of pink

A fashion parade and fundraiser, called Shades of Pink, was hosted in glamourous South Melbourne art gallery, Smart Artz, on Friday, 1st June. According to events group, 6 Degrees, the inaugural charity event raised $7500, which will go towards funding, and raising awareness of, Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA).

Special guest MC for the night, fashion presenter at Network 10’s The Circle and fashion blogger, Emily Powers, kept the crowd entertained and keen to bid. The large warehouse space created the perfect place for guests to mingle, drink champagne and make their bid in the silent auction.

After the opening speeches, a breast cancer survivor told the assembled guests an inspirational tale of how BCNA had helped her and her family to deal with her diagnosis and treatment for breast cancer. Emily Power then gave us some of her fashion wisdom and details of upcoming trends.

On the catwalk, striking Chadwick’s models paraded Susan Rep’s resort wear. Susan is an up-and-coming Melbourne designer who recently participated in The New Generation 2 Show, at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, to rave reviews. The feminine form is her inspiration. Her collections of chic, elegant, haute couture outfits are tailored with high quality fabrics and feature intricate detailing. The jewelry was by Love from Venus.

The guests were spoiled by the intimate surroundings, beautiful people, and stunning fashion on display, as well as by the gorgeous canapés and cakes that were served. Quite simply, it was a smashing success and everyone seemed to have a wonderful time. I look forward to the next Shades of Pink in 2013.
