Free live music and a chance to win a retro push bike? Sounds like a dream, but it’s a reality at your local shopping mall Acland Court this month. Every second Sunday in July from 2-4pm there will be live music in Acland Court. The line-up includes Classical trio from Monash University (Sunday 13th July) and Gypsy music from the Stiletto Sisters (Sunday 27th July).

It’s no secret that St Kilda locals love their live music and that’s why once again Acland Court is warming up your weekends with live music on Sunday afternoons in late July. Acland Court Shopping Centre wants you to enjoy the winter months, so it is bringing you the best in live music plus your chance to win the ultimate in retro transport.

“Whenever we have a live music act, whether it is choir, jazz or classical, we get great positive feedback from the local community,” says Acland Court Shopping Centre Manager, Sue Defina.

“St Kilda is a hub of creativity and we want to tap into that spirit to bring our local residents activities that they will really enjoy and also warm up those cold winter afternoons”.

Sue goes on; “This year, to add some extra fun to the music program, we are excited to be giving our shoppers the chance to win his and hers retro push-bikes from St Kilda Cycles”.

Acland Court Shopping Centre has grown into one of St Kilda’s popular little shopping hot spots. The centre launched in 1999 and offers 15 diverse retailers and three levels of secure undercover parking with wheelchair access (car park open from 6am to midnight daily).

Visit Acland Court this winter, throughout July, to find out how you could go into the draw to win one of two retro push-bikes!

Ways to keep warm this winter with Acland Court:

1. If you prefer to hide from the cold then a night in with a good DVD and a hot meal is perfect for you! Winter is the busiest time at Video St Kilda, with a DVD box-set being a great way to enjoy a weekend indoors, and if you’re after a good movie, Academy Award winners will be released in June. If you do prefer to stay in with a good DVD during winter why not compliment it with the perfect winter meal? Antipasto Deli’s pre-made pasta and lasagnes or homemade pies are all great winter warmers.

2. Maybe you’d prefer to flex your cooking muscles? Cooking is a great winter activity as you get to hideout in the warm kitchen. Visit The Gully for all your baking and cooking needs; from pots and pans for the perfect winter soup or pizza trays for some homemade pizza goodness, and why not compliment your cooking with Chimmys freshly baked bread?

How about matching your cooking with the perfect drop? Red wines are always popular and are a great accompaniment to any night-in. In winter heavier Cab Savs and Shiraz’s are perfect for the cold weather or how about a hearty Chardonnay? Cellarbrations has a huge range of wines and their expert advice with help you find the perfect drink to go with your meal.

3. If you love the winter months and love nothing more than embracing the cooler weather then let Nook Jewellery help you do it in style. With a collection of beautiful scarves to keep you warm or that statement piece of jewellery to brighten up the all black Melbourne winter ‘uniform’.

4. Of course some people choose to escape the winter chill completely. Popular among St Kilda locals is short escapes to Thailand; a week of sun and beaches to break up Melbourne’s long winter. Then of course there’s the rite of passage for 20 something’s; a European summer. Flights to London are as popular as ever at Flight Centre St Kilda.

For those who want a little more adventure (and don’t mind the cold) June and July are always very popular for a trans-Tasman trip to Queenstown for a spot of skiing and snowboarding.

5. And of course Acland Courts top tip, whether you choose to hide, escape, or rug up against the cold, is to stay healthy. Acland Court Pharmacy has all your vitamin needs to keep you healthy this winter.
