Want to learn more about St Kildas’ penguins? Enjoy meeting and talking to tourists and locals? Want to join an enthusiastic team of volunteers?

Earthcare St Kilda is currently recruiting volunteers to join our Penguin Guide team, working on St Kilda pier, during the daylight saving period – Oct 5th 2014 to Apr 5th 2015

Members of the team will be rostered once per fortnight, to supervise public penguin viewing at the pier from dusk for 2 to 3 hours.earthcare-penguin-full

•Penguin Guides provide information to visitors on the behaviour, characteristics, and habits of Little Penguins

•Guides minimise the impact of visitors to the colony, through education about the use and effects of camera flashes and white light torches, and not disturbing or approaching penguins or their nest sites

•No previous penguin knowledge or experience is needed as all training and equipment will be provided to volunteers by Earthcare St Kilda

•You must be over 16yrs and join as a member of Earthcare (penguin guide discounted fee of $10)

Attendance at one Training/Induction session is required; at 10am on Saturday 20th September, at the Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron (RMYS building, Pier road, St Kilda) A willingness to be rostered on duty at least once per fortnight and plenty of enthusiasm is all we require.
