A developer wants to demolish the Greyhound Hotel in order to construct an eight-storey building comprising five shops, 43 dwellings, and 61 basement car parking spaces.

Local resident and business owner Caroline Thurling has set up a petition on Change.org to prevent this from happening.

She will be speaking at Council’s Planning Meeting on Tuesday 6 December and hopes to include the number of signatories to the petition. Objections need to be made by 8 December.

The City of Port Phillip has received a planning application arguing it “provides a juxtaposition to the imposing St Kilda Town Hall set within landscaped grounds. The eight storeys proposed with the development provides a stepping up of built form from No. 7 Brighton Road to the south towards the intersection and the wider St Kilda Road South Precinct to the north.”
