MOZART’S MARRIAGE OF FIGARO VERSUS OZ ROCK AND AUSSIE RULES

A five match premiership season starting Sunday 9th Oct, 14th, 16th, 21st and 23rd. Kick off – 4pm Sundays, 8pm Fridays.

Where – At the historic North Port Oval Grandstand and Clubroom (home of the Port Melbourne football club) – cnr Williamstown Rd and Ingles St Port Melbourne.

From ‘Baroque to Rock’ – this 90min Opera fusion Cabaret comedy adaptation of Mozarts Marriage of Figaro is integrated with Classic Oz Rock from the 70′s, 80′s and 90′s and performed in 2 locations – First half in the historic club room and the Second half in the Grandstand.

There is mutiny brewing in the club. The coach has got his eye on the teams Captain Figaro’s girl Susanna. The coach’s wife is furious, the captain Figaro is furious and Suzanna is stuck in the middle. The Gun recuit Cherubino has got his eye on everyone and everyone is trying to stay ‘one step ahead’!

A TOP OF THE TABLE CLASH! Come and hear all your favorite oz rock classics mixed in with Mozarts beautiful music sung by great opera and contemporary voices alike and accompanied by the Cut Opera House Combo.

Award winning Opera Australia director Julie Edwardson continues to break new ground with her company Emotionworks Cut Opera – bringing opera to new audiences – fusing music genres and cultures. Presenting opera as originally intended – with a beer in one hand, a foot tapping and a chance to even sing along – pure entertainment – no boring bits!
