Police are calling for witnesses after a man was arrested for impersonating a police officer in St Kilda on 16 April.

Police claim the man approached an escort worker and purported to be an undercover police officer, demanding cash and sexual services from her.

The 40-year-old man was arrested on 30 April and charged with impersonating a police officer and attempting to obtain sexual penetration by fraud.

With another story in this issue of St Kilda News about Tracey Connelly, who was found dead in Greeves St last July, residents in the area are concerned with the ongoing threat to street workers.

According to one resident, this vulnerable group of people are easy pray to criminals, and have to live with the threat of violence on a daily basis.

The St Kilda man was bailed to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 12 September.
