LOCAL ARTISTS EXCEED CROWD FUNDING TARGET IN A THIRD OF THE TIME

Amazing support from all over the world sees emerging Victorian photographic artists successfully crowd fund for their graduate exhibition, Fresh12.

In a bid to raise capital to fund their graduate exhibition, 19 students from Photography Studies College, Melbourne, developed their own means to fund the show.

The final year program teaches students practical skills that are invaluable for a contemporary artist such as managing a successful arts practice, promoting your work, as well as organising and funding an exhibition.

In just ten days of the 30 days allocated for their Pozible crowd funding scheme, the students have exceeded their target of $2,000. Fresh12 artists include a diverse mix of age and backgrounds. It comes as no surprise then that the themes articulated through the art are equally diverse ranging from displacement, duality, death and the subconscious, to puberty, connectivity and a glimpse into humankind 100 years from now.

Fresh12 exhibition details:

Yarra Sculpture Gallery 117 Vere St Abbotsford Exhibition dates: opening night Friday 23 November, to Sunday 9 December 2012.
