Live N Local – The winter version

By  |  0 Comments

Melbourne’s favourite local music festival Live N Local is once again returning to the streets of the City of Port Phillip.

From Saturday 20 August until Saturday 27 August, music enthusiasts will be treated to the hauntingly beautiful vocals of Woodes, distinguished garage-pop of Loose Tooth, soft punk tunes of Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, post-punk and art rock vibes of Destrends, power blues by The Ugly Kings and the melodic soundscapes of Fierce Mild.

Boasting exceptional talent in a week-long festival, events will be housed in well-known and iconic venues throughout the bayside municipality including the St Kilda Pier, Sacred Heart Church, Melbourne Moonshine, the Globe Warehouse and the Prince.

This August marks the first time the coveted music event has been presented outside of St Kilda Festival, and City Of Port Phillip Mayor Bernadene Voss says she believes locals and visitors alike will find a high calibre of artists taking part in the festival this winter.

“Our local community is built on a solid reputation of culture and arts. Fostering this talent is something that our local council and community are fiercely passionate about.”

“Moving our Live N Local program to become a standalone event this August is a testament to our commitment to supporting our local music industry, while also creating an attractive environment to boost visitation to our beautiful municipality during the cooler months.”

The City of Port Phillip established Live N Local to celebrate and support local talent and emerging artists, and also features a program of free Artist Development forums and workshops. This segment of the program is dedicated to self-managed artists, songwriters and musicians, as well as those wanting to break into the music industry. Well-known artists and industry figures will share their knowledge spanning across topics including song writing, grants and funding, legal issues, marketing, distribution and more.

Kicking off on Saturday 20 August with an opening event at the Globe Warehouse, this winter’s Live N Local program is one not to missed by music lovers.
