We’re gearing up for our eighth annual Heart of St Kilda Concert – an unforgettable night in September starring some of Australia’s best comedians and musicians, who come together to raise money for our Meals Program.

For the uninitiated, the Heart of St Kilda Concert is a highly entertaining mix of acts performing all in one night on the stage of St Kilda’s iconic Palais Theatre. They’re acts which cross generations and genres, acts which guarantee a memorable night out.

Audience members regularly report that they turn up looking forward to seeing their favourite acts and leave having discovered new ones. There’s a real sense of electricity and camaraderie in the audience on the night, as the community comes together to celebrate St Kilda and a great cause.

Helmed once again by irrepressible RocKwiz co-presenter Brian Nankervis, this year’s line-up includes:

Kasey Chambers – Australia’s most popular country music performer with three #1 albums.Kasey Chambers – Australia’s most popular country music performer with three #1 albums.

Arj Barker – A golden boy on the international comedy circuit, this US comedian’s stand-up is both insightful and pointed – like a mind-reading thumb tack – if one existed…

Col Joye – A rock and roll legend who has been playing for decades and experienced a string of chart successes in the early days of the Australian popular music scene.

Denise Scott – Over the past decade comedian Scotty has gone supernova, selling out theatres, appearing on high-rating TV shows and writing two popular memoirs.

British India – This Melbourne indie rock band’s latest albumNothing Touches Me debuted at #5 on the ARIA charts.

Leonard & Slava Grigoryan –Regarded as Australia’s finest classical guitar duo, these brothers have taken the guitar into genres such as Latin, Jazz, Folk and contemporary music.

David Hobson & Colin Lane – Incorporating music, comedy, opera, song and dance in a unique and hilarious experiment that promises to enthral and entertain.

Tim Rogers, Rebecca Barnard, Billy Miller and the Caravan Choir – The power of close to 100 voices in unison raise the roof, as they back the likes of Tim Rogers, Billy Miller and Rebecca Barnard.

Luke McGregor – This award-winning writer and comedian has been selling out venues at local and international comedy festivals and lighting up the small screen in programs from The Project to Utopia.

Emma Donovan – A Deadly Awards nominee, her singing and song writing blends Reggae, Gospel, Soul and Country music as well as her indigenous Gumbaynggirr heritage.

Dave Callan – You’ve probably seen him on at least one of these shows: Rove Live, the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Gala, Good News Week, Spicks and Specks, Chaser’s Media Circus, Triple J or ABC’s Good Game.

The Meltdown – A bold, brassy, twangy steam train of bumping backbeats and swinging shuffles. Soul, but Country too and something else indefinable – like you heard it before but don’t know where…

And the explosive drumming of Taikoz – Combining the visceral power of the taiko drum with the ethereal sound of the bamboo shakuhachi, Taikoz explores a synthesis of East and West, old and new.

And if this stellar line-up doesn’t persuade you to snap up a ticket right now, maybe some of last year’s punters will:

A night when I truly feel like a part of the St Kilda community” one chap said.

“Fun, joyful, an unexpected delight of entertainment tidbits”.

Energetic, memorable, great line-up – as always. Atmosphere is terrific. Wouldn’t miss it.”

This year, we’re aiming to raise enough to pay for 25,500 hot and nutritious meals for people who are homeless and disadvantaged.
