Girls Night In

On Sunday 28th October 2012 a “Girls Night In” fundraiser was hosted for women’s cancers at Big Mouth in St Kilda. “Girls Night In” is a Cancer Council initiative that encourages people to host an event of their choosing in the month of October. Commitment to this cause assists ground breaking research, prevention programs and support services for women’s cancers.

Currently, each year in Australia almost over 17,500 women are diagnosed with breast and gynaecological cancers.

The afternoon took shape in the form of an afternoon tea for the girls, with over 30 ladies enjoying some food and a drink. We also set up various silent auctions for the girls to bid on in their own time.

We had great support from local businesses such as Seagulls of St Kilda, Sapore, Tolarno Hotel, Antipasto Delicatessen & Fine Foods, Studio3 Port Melbourne, Hairhouse Warehouse, Moo’s Market, Acland Street Pharmacy and of course Big Mouth. Each business donated goods or a service to be sold via silent auction.

I am pleased to advise that we raised an excess of $3,000 which is amazing.

I thoroughly enjoyed organising this event and look forward to the challenge of raising more again at next year’s “Girls Night In”.
