George Revival

It seems that not everything in St Kilda is getting turned into apartments – some things are returning to their original form, well this is true for the old George cinema anyway.

From mid-August, Gus Berger has taken out a short-term lease to revive St Kilda’s local cinema and it’s being called The George Revival.

Gus has negotiated a lease with current owner, Ralph Taranto which takes him up to February 1st 2014 and after that – well who knows, it will be in the hands of the new owners.

So from August to February Gus is planning on bringing great films back to St Kilda. He is tapping into the wealth of local talent in St Kilda – by requesting people like Adam Elliot and Richard Lowenstein to introduce their work and talk about current projects. He is programming in documentaries, new releases, cult and classic films shown on 35mm and even films for the kids and teenagers. The plan is to include the local community as much as possible and to show great films that will appeal to a wide range of film lovers. Cinema is back at the George and it’s going to better than ever before.
