From homegrown to worldwide: Etsy COO shows Melbourne startups how to scale global

As part of its 2017 launch, the Asia Pacific region’s top digital festival, Pause, will welcome the COO of Etsy worldwide for a world-first keynote.

Now in its sixth year, Pause, will once again be taking over Federation Square, Melbourne, from 8-10 February 2017, bringing with it a program of presentations, panel debates, workshops and experiences from the creative, tech and business industries’ most prolific thought leaders.

Featuring amongst them will be Linda Kozlowski, the recently inaugurated COO for Etsy worldwide. In a world-first keynote, she will be sharing her insights into building successful global products for culturally diverse users and discussing how entrepreneurs can take their products global from day one.

“One of Etsy’s unique points of difference is its global customer base who aspire to purchase unique items that you can’t find anywhere else,” explains Kozlowski.

“For our sellers, connecting with those people involves a process that intersects the creative, tech and business worlds; taking the seed of an idea, turning it into a tangible product with real commercial potential and then taking it to market. For some entrepreneurs, the idea of that market being global can seem daunting, so the purpose of my talk at Pause is to really get under the skin of what makes a product successful on a global scale.”

George Hedon, founder of Pause, said:

“The keynote and panel from Etsy, along with everything else on the 2017 program, have been curated specifically to illustrate the convergence of creative, tech and business ideas within the digital industries and how a project’s success is now hugely dependent on a holistic approach that encompasses all three elements.”

Further events taking place across Tech Day at Pause 2017 include keynotes from Intel; panel debates from The Mill; workshops from Hax Accelerator, and pitch opportunities with Social Traders.

Pause will run from Wednesday 8 to Friday 10 February 2017 (Creative Day – 8 February; Tech Day – 9 February; Business Day – 10 February). Full programming details and ticket options are available from the website.
