Fish tank full of artists and… Father Bob?

What happens when you lock 12 artists and a shipload of paint in a Perspex box for 24 hours? The organisers have no idea, but it’ll be fun finding out! And you can too, because the ‘goldfish bowl’ will be located publicly in St Kilda – in O’Donnell gardens from Friday the 24th of May.

There’ll be street art, indigenous art, contemporary art, yarn bombing, light projections, burlesque life drawing, body painting, interactive video… and Father Bob?!

The newly-formed Arts Triangle launches with the “24 Hour Artist Lockdown” in O’Donnell Gardens, St Kilda. The Arts Triangle is a privately-funded not-for-profit organisation focused on supporting Urban Art through a grant submission process. Submissions are open to everyone, with the final art piece to be installed publically in St Kilda. This is their first project and it’s kicking off with a bang!

12 established artists and 30 young aspiring artists will be locked in a Perspex box, painting and creating for 24 hours – Big Brother style.

The project has been created in conjunction with St Kilda Youth Services, HEAT Program, Hunter Gatherer and The Father Bob Foundation.

Father Bob will be popping into the fishbowl on Saturday around noon to show his artistic flair too. Anthony Breslin, Richard Morrison, William & Delmae Barton and Fred Nurock are some of the esteemed artists on display.

St Kilda Youth Service and Hunter Gatherer will be hosting a pop-up café next to the fish tank, which will be open for lunch and dinner over the weekend.

All art pieces created will be auctioned at the end of the 24 hour period, courtesy of Ray White, with the proceeds going towards the Urban Art Grant to assist in exhibiting more of St Kilda’s talented artists.

This writer just hopes the tank isn’t airtight…
