Father’s Day Challenge

Melbourne not-for-profit organisation St Kilda Mums is hosting a Father’s Day challenge to raise funds and emphasise the important role that dads play in the charity.

St Kilda Mums’ activities include recycling cots, prams, bassinets, car restraints and other baby essentials. These are given to nurses and social workers to pass onto families experiencing hardship right across Melbourne, Geelong and Ballarat.

To raise awareness of this work, St Kilda Mums is hosting a “Techies versus Tradies” challenge on Saturday, September 5th. The challenge will see two teams of dads – one made up office workers and the other consisting of tradesmen – competing to repair the most prams and car restraints in just 60 minutes.

St Kilda Mums CEO Jessica Macpherson says that the support of all of its volunteers is key to the charity’s continued operations.

“With Father’s Day approaching, it’s important for St Kilda Mums to celebrate all the fathers and the valuable contribution they play in helping other Victorian fathers and families that need assistance.”

“It’s also our chance to see which team of dads are the ultimate “Tinker Fairies” – will the Tradies be crowned the winners, or will the Techies show them how to wield a screwdriver?” asks Ms Macpherson.

St Kilda Mums is a not-for-profit organisation based in St Kilda, driven by the power of over 350 volunteers. St Kilda Mums collect donations of nursery equipment and children’s clothing. The Mums recycle cots, prams, bassinets, clothes and other baby essentials by cleaning and repairing them, and ensuring items meet national safety requirements. These items are then rehomed to families in need by social workers from 250 social welfare agencies in Victoria. For more information, visit www.stkildamums.org.
