Editor’s Note May 2013

It’s now May and the signs are everywhere.  The majority of backpackers and tourists have disappeared leaving only the most intrepid.  The weather is cooler and it gets dark so early 7pm now feels like 9pm.  No more sun baking, not much sitting in parks and even less skateboarding with your top off.

We have developed this edition of SKN with winter in mind and it is especially suited to reading in front of open fireplaces, snuggled on the coach with a loved one or even under a warm doona.  When you’re finished with it, be thoughtful and to leave it out so others can pick it up and read it too.

If you haven’t downloaded the new St Kilda App for iPhone jump onto the app store now and download it for free.  You can read the news, browse upcoming events and check out the discounts on offer from local traders.  It’s free so what are you waiting for?  To all those who have asked we are responding to your request to have an android version and that is now in development.

In this edition be sure to check out the Food Dude’s chef profile on Brad Bouhalis of Mirka.  A review of Nilaja Sun’s play No Child by Natalie King that begins at Theatreworks in May.  Find out some more about local Rotary President and St Kilda News online editor Julia Topliss.  We even have a Mornington Peninsula get away spread so stop wasting time on the editor’s note and get into it.

Enjoy,
