St Kilda recognises Fred Negro as the irreverent punk rocker and cartoonist. But who knew he once starred in a horror movie its impressively drunk cast doesn’t remember making? Or that he had a cameo in a Vance Joy video. Or that he also had a wife. Or that . . . I won’t give away everything.

Our subeditor, Shiv Nalapat, sat down with Fred Negro, at a bar of course, and chatted about the man’s many interests. The result is our cover story that I am sure St Kilda residents will devour. After you are done reading his interview, turn to page 18 for a sampling of his Pub strip.

St Kilda’s community vibe is strong this month: the Council is offering grants for community projects and looking for mentors; Canvas Coworking’s Doug Hartman is inviting expressions of interest for a community project incubator; Photographer Hilmar Anton Machado shows us community environmental projects at the Botanical Gardens; and we, as usual, are inviting you to contribute to the paper. So many options to get involved with your community. Which one will you choose this month?
Until next time,
