“The 18, 200 businesses in the City of Port Phillip contribute many specialist goods and services to out communities, thousands of jobs and more than $11 billion to the local economy…” Mayor Amanda Stevens said. “The eleven award categories have been created to ensure all businesses big and small from across the municipality have the chance to participate in the event.”

Habitat HQ, local Backpackers Hostel and winners in previous years, have been nominated for multiple awards, including Environmental Leadership, as they lead the way in carbon neutrality and sustainability, as well as encouraging their guests to travel in an eco friendly manner.

The Palais Theatre is also nominated for multiple awards, being a strong presence in the local community and supporting local issues. In August they hosted the Sacred Heart, Heart Of St. Kilda charity concert. Nominated in the Medium – Large business and Creative and Cultural Industries categories.

The awards provide an opportunity for businesses of all kinds and genres to be supported and celebrated in their fields, and commended on their contribution to our local community. Businesses that receive multiple awards are eligible for the Business Excellence Leaders Award, which specifically recognises recipients of multiple awards.

Businesses that have been shortlisted will be visited over the coming weeks by specialist judges who are selected as leaders in their field, to determine the winners of each category.

Awards will be announced at a gala event on the 22 of October.
