Locally produced website taking on Facebook and Twitter – Write on!!!

Produced here in St Kilda, last month saw the launch of www.bytestories.com a site devoted to the sharing and reading of real life stories. Don’t you think that everyone has at least one great story to tell?

The site provides an easy way for people to write, record, and share stories as opposed to dealing with the hassles of setting up a blog. It integrates with Facebook, Twitter and Google+ meaning that people only have to login once and they’re able to start writing and sharing instantly. In the first month of the launch it’s already gained users from over 30 countries!

The site’s creator is Luke Simmons (a St Kilda local) and he states: “the inspiration for creating this site came from my ‘Uncle’ Arthur who lived an amazing life which included; surviving the London bombings in WWII and being a real, old-school adventurer. He died only a couple of years ago at the age of 92 years old and I felt a real sadness because he’d out-survived most of his family and left without any recorded traces of the wonderful experiences that he had on the planet. Hopefully normal, everyday people can use www.bytestories.com to ensure that their memories are recorded and do not slip into the ether”.

The site is designed to allow writers to write stories about any real life events of an entertaining nature that may have happened anywhere. Perhaps you could think back to that memorable holiday when things turned a little hairy? Or, perhaps you could share about that time you almost died of embarrassment!? We’re all witnesses in some pretty entertaining ‘scenes’ from time to time so why shouldn’t we share the love?
