BIBA, the iconic Melbourne-born hair salon turned 40 last month and celebrated at its newest location at 167 Acland Street, St Kilda.

The special event hosted Melbourne VIP’s, fashion bloggers and media who witnessed a 40-year anniversary photo shoot.

The live time-travelling photo shoot showcased hairstyles and trends from the 70s through to today.

BIBA was launched in 1975 with the vision and passion of hairdresser Pavlos Divitaris, who also attended the celebration.

With his wife Carmel by his side, Divitaris chatted happily with guests who soaked up the electric, buzzing atmosphere. The Acland Street salon is immaculate and features a wall consisting of lush green plants.

The Acland Street location will take the number of BIBA salons in and around Melbourne (and one in Taiwan) to 14.

BIBA Creative Director and 2014 Hair Expo Hairdresser of the Year Frank Apostolopoulos said, “We’re passionate about creating a salon space where customers can explore their uniqueness and rely on expert, fashion-forward advice.”

“We enjoy collaborating with fashion designers, discovering new styles and techniques that fit with our vision and these are things that keep BIBA such an exciting place to work and visit and so relevant and progressive today.”
