Australian Water Ski Team – St Kilda extends its talent to extreme sports!

We have some very talented young sportsmen and women living under our very noses, and a group of young water skiers in the area are so talented that they have been selected to represent Australia at the World Championships in the USA in September.

The World Water Ski Show Tournament is being hosted by the Rock Aqua Jays water ski show team in Janesville, Wisconsin, on Saturday 15th September and Sunday 16th September. The teams competing are 2 x USA teams, Canada, Belgium, China, Australia and Germany.

Twenty-three year old Dominic Harkins is one of the team members heading off to, hopefully, bring home the glory for the Green and Gold. Dominic has been skiing since he was four years old, and now performs in tournaments in skiing, wakeboarding, bare footing and trick skiing. Each of the team members has a similar story, and each has a passion for skiing. The team are a mix of young people from Victoria, WA, NSW and SA.

As representatives of our country, The Australian Government has endorsed the team of skiers, but they have to find their own funding for travel and for the shipping of their equipment. So, as we are in the habit of supporting local talent in St Kilda, there is a trivia night fundraiser.

It will be held at the St Kilda Bowls Club on August 18th. There will be a DJ spinning discs and Trivia starts at 8pm. Tickets are $20 at the door.

Please come along and enjoy a fun night out, with all the proceeds going towards supporting these driven and dedicated people.
