YMCA Victoria and the City of Port Phillip are looking for young leaders to participate in the very first Leaders of Tomorrow program.

The program, for those aged 14 – 25, is an exciting new initiative supporting young leaders to develop the professional and personal skills needed to design and deliver community projects.

The program is open to all young people with a connection to the City of Port Phillip, whether they reside, work, socialise or go to school here.

Applications are open from now until November 30th, and are being accepted via the website listed below.

Program Coordinator Kieran Ryan says he’s excited to work with young people in the City of Port Phillip.

“The program starts with structured weekly skills workshops for a bunch of strangers and finishes with a group of mates working on their own project – something they own and are passionate about.”

“Working with young people, every day is different from the last. Going through programs like this with the same team for 6-months means you get to see these guys grow in their confidence and ability to make a positive impact.”

The workshops have been developed by the YMCA Victoria’s Youth Leadership and Development Unit, the same team that facilitates the annual Victorian Youth Parliament program which celebrates its 30th birthday in 2016.

“I’ve always felt like a local in the area even though I’m a Westie” Kieran adds.

“I went to CBC in East St Kilda, my best mate lived off Victoria Ave in South Melbourne, and I play basketball at Albert Park College.”
